Workforce Development Center

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Inc. provides Workforce Investment Act Title I Adult and Youth services under the auspices of the New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Investment Board in the following jurisdictions: Montgomery, Floyd, and Pulaski Counties and Radford City. Under the Western Virginia Workforce Development Board Adult and Youth programs are provided in the following jurisdictions: Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, Alleghany, Roanoke, and in the Cities of Covington, Roanoke, and Salem.

The Workforce Investment Act Title I Adult program offers universal core services that include job search assistance.  Under intensive services, participants receive in-depth assessment of skills and career counseling.  Training services will be utilized when individuals are not able to obtain employment through core or intensive services.  The focus of this program is to enable clients to achieve employment and/or self-sufficiency.

The Youth program under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act provides comprehensive youth services to eligible individuals.  The purpose of this program is to prepare unskilled youths for entry into the labor force.  Activities are individualized and dependent on each client’s circumstances and needs.  In-depth assessment and individual service strategies along with a wide variety of additional activities ensure that needs are met and goals are achieved.

All services funded by the New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Investment Board are provided through Goodwill’s Workforce Development Centers located in Dublin, Christiansburg, and Floyd Counties and at the Virginia Workforce Center located in Radford City.  Additional services funded by the Western Virginia Workforce Development Board are provided at Goodwill’s corporate office, the Central Division, at the Virginia Workforce Centers located in Rocky Mount, Covington, and Roanoke and at Dabney Lancaster Community College and Villages at Lincoln.
